DSE Points Battles go Down to the Wire

For the second time this season DSE SportsmanRacing Series Competitors were racing against the weather as much as themselves at the 2nd Annual Canadian Funny Car Championships….

Saturday Racing went smooth with all classes being able to crown champions, however Sunday turned into a race against an incoming weather system, unfortunately for DSE Sportsman Racing Series Competitors the storm won and Sundays Racing action was cancelled just priorto Round 1.

One big winner from the weekend was Pete Maduri Jr  who for the second DSE event weekend in a row doubled up his Saturday racing action by taking home both the Renegade Race Fuels Super Pro and HeadsUpRacer.com Frantic 14 Victories.

In Renegade Race Fuels Super Pro, Maduri started his trek to the finals by receiving the first round bye run via the “Round that Counts” where the racer with the best reaction time from the last time trial wins the potential first round bye run. From there Maduri drove around Lui Ramundo in round 2, Dave “Otis” Symon in round 3 and Chris VanBaalen in the Semi Finals to set up a final round match up against Mike Newman. In that, Final Round Maduri took a .012 advantage at the Starting line and that was all he would need for the victory.

In the HeadsUpRacer.com Frantic 14 Maduri qualified in the number 6 slot, which placed him up against #1, Qualifier Dennis Black, unfortunately for Black a red light handed the win over to Maduri. From there Maduri used a Second Round bye run and red lights from both his Semi Final opponent KC kovac and Final Round opponent Steve Ferstl to lock up his second Frantic 14 Event win in as many weekends.

The Corriveau Concrete Jr Dragster Category had NHRA hardware on the line Saturday as the earlier July 27th NHRA Jr Drag Racing League Challenge had been rained out and rescheduled to the Saturday of the Labour Day weekend. A Very tough field of 15 competitors duked it out for the NHRA hardware with Matteo Ramundo climbing to the top of the field winning over Cristina Johnston and her ever so close -.001 red-light.
