Some more updates from on going Canadian drag racing highlights so far this season!…..

PDRA MIR Score! — Congratulations to very devoted T/D class racer Kyle Harris (Burford ON) who collected a big win during the most recent PDRA event held at Budds Creek MD. Racing his fan favourite KHR Racing ’23T,  Kyle won the Laris Motorsports Insurance Elite Top Dragster eliminator at the North/South Shootout event over a tough 16-car field. Kyle deliverd a great .008 RT and a 3.829 secs (3.80 dial) in the final to upset class stalwart racer Steve Furr.

Très vite! — Quebec’s Daniel Mercier went for the quickest rides of his career so far while racing in Top Fuel at Bristol Dragway’s NHRA nationals weekend. That was in fact 3.768 secs which came up during a match up versus Justin Ashley (rain delayed round one from New England) a close dash which Justin barely won. Mercier was also credited with a career best qualifying position (#7) and we think that his 323.35 mph during the event was his fastest terminal speed too!?!

Kudos to Cameron — Also notching a career best in a Canadian car was driver Cameron Ferrè who guided the ever improving Paton Racing Top Fuel dragster while racing at Bristol.  Cameron, who is son-in-law to Canadian drag racing’s Tim Boychuk, and from California, went 3.795 secs at 322.11 mph to qualify a strong #9 for the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals event.

Bullish in Vegas — During mid-April Manitoba’s Clif Bakx and his driver Todd Bruce (from North Dakota) came very close to winning their 2nd NHRA national event title together.  Bruce placed R/UP during the NHRA’s 4-Wide Nationals losing out only to legendary NASCAR turned drag racer Tony Stewart in the final frame. Bruce’s 5.332 secs in “The Bull” was second only just barely to Stewart’s 5.324 secs.

Cowie Typical — And of course what would a NHRA race at Las Vegas be without yet another strong performance from BC’s Cowie Racing? Shawn was spot on the mark in qualifying running both low ET and top speed in the Mundie’s Towing dragster – 5.218 secs at 279.38 mph to take the pole – but lost out in “quad two” this time.

Charlie Counts Up — Eastern Canadian S/G racer Charlie Kenopic picked up his 6th career NHRA Wally when he scored in his class category during a LODRS event held at Cecil County MD (April 16th). Charlie (from Renfrew ON) won 5 rounds of competition and beat opponent Ken Bowers in a “double break out” final round.
