DragRaceCanada and KHR provide another dose of Canadian track and series Championship winners from last season….
A Sportsman Spotlight! — Track championships for some “Street/Sportsman” ET class racing in Canada did include titles for Adrienne Canfield (top) and Dan Adie. Cayuga’s RCSS produced the first time “Street” title for Adrienne who drove a Camaro (based from York ON) to that Blastall Equipment-presented eliminator title. At Medicine Hat Drag Strip – the MHDRA’s Sportsman points title went to this unlikely pickup entry ( a 1962 Mercury M100) which driver/owner Dean Adie turned from being an “ugly duckling” to a shining season star! Adie is a local driver based from Medicine Hat.
Street Smarts — Within Ontario’s Canada Heads Up/Ontario Grudge Wars scene, the list of season winners included E.J. Gouveia from Brampton Ontario. Driving his 1986 model Ford Mustang, “EJ” prevailed for the series’ Street 275 class. He won one event during the year (at St. Thomas Dragway) and by qualifying well at all races attended — laid claim in the very competitive championship chase – winning it by less than one round of racing.
Super Pro Stardom! — Dragster drivers Mike Krozser (top) and Troy Davis both enjoyed superb seasons in 2020 taking hard fought Super Pro points titles – out West at Castrol Raceway and in the East at Luskville Dragway respectively. Krozser, (from Leduc AB) who is a second generation driver, also prevailed in the Edmonton track’s “Fury” class (which is a 1/8th mile season chase). For Troy, who is from Ottawa, his win was his first track championship and came by a close margin over 2nd place finisher Derek Malcolm — son to Luskville Dragway track owner Arnie Malcolm.
