A couple of early season winners and a slick new look for a Canadian TF team are highlighted in this edition….

What are the odds? — During the NHRA’s Division 7 season opening Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event held at Tucson Arizona last weekend — the added attraction Top Comp eliminator — which features head to head racing for TD and TS class cars — had all Canadian final. That match paired off two racers who are both from Vegreville AB! Grant Durie – racing his TNT Supercars built dragster defeated Will Yakimetz‘s Camaro to claim that event title. Grant hit a final round 6.915 secs at 192.44 mph (6.89 dial) to top Yakimetz who had a red-light start and a time of 7.127 secs 191.27 mph. Both Grant and Will later went on to strong finishings in the overall TD and TS eliminators on Sunday — Grant won three rounds in his class competition and Yakimetz took his Chevy to a semi final round placing.

Index Champ! One of Canada’s most lethal NHRA index racers — Ken Mostowich (from Calgary) emerged as another Canadian winner during the NHRA Lucas Oil Divisional 7 opener at Tucson Dragway. After qualifying 10th — Mostowich (near lane) defeated Rick Cates in the all topless Corvette SG final. Ken hit a winning 10.16 secs — Cates had a red-light in the final. For Ken and his talented “right hand man” crew member Charlie Marsh — this win was his 6th career score within NHRA’s Lucas Oil Divisional level playing field.
