John Force Guests in Quebec this Weekend!

Living legend drag racer will make his second (non racing) appearance in Canada this season…

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, the Castrol Festidrag is putting on the biggest drag racing happening in Canada at the mythical acceleration track in Sanair on September 6th and 7th, 2014. In addition to the finals in all race categories, 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force will be back with his John Force Racing Travelling Road Show which will be displaying five Funny Cars that have dominated NHRA race tracks, including his 1990 Oldsmobile.

Festidrag will be hosting a guest of honour for the viewing pleasure of fans young and old: a blazing angel jet dragster, which travels the ¼ mile in 5.01 seconds at a peak speed of 317 mph (508 kmh) and the 1/8 mile in 3.23 seconds at a peak speed of 232 mph (371 kmh). It is one of the most technologically advanced and fast jet dragsters in the world. There will be two demonstrations on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Visitors will have the chance to see other amazing vehicles including several drivers from Quebec and Ontario: Denis Lachance, Rudolphe Nadeau, Ghislain et Cédric Beaulieu, Frank Angers, Richard Péloquin, Luc Trépanier, Georges Lévesque, Yvan Dumont, Alain Langlois, Dan Mercier, Serge Giroux, Yvan Ray, Jean-Claude Frapier, Nick Landry, Lyle Williams, Richard St-Pierre, Danny Massé, André Loder, Jim Leo (a full description of the vehicles is available at festidrag.com). Prizes will be giving for a total of $5500 in this category ($3000 1st place, $1500 2nd place and $1000 3rd and 4th places).

The highlight of the event in Sanair will be the return of John Force after a 22 year absence along with five historic vehicles that have dominated NHRA race tracks. This includes his Oldsmobile Funny Car, the very one that won the title in Sanair back in 1990. Fans will have a chance to see the 16-time NHRA champion up close as Mr. Force will be participating in autograph and photo sessions. This is an exclusive event for Quebec in 2014!

Force will not be participating in the events with his Funny Cars, but he will partake in three ¼ mile demonstrations with a Lamborghini from Montreal Lamborghini and John Scotti.

Festidrag invites all fearless drivers to join the show and try their car out on our circuit rather than in the street. The categories open to the public are: Capitale Chrysler Street, Julien Performance Compact, Centre Mécanau Semi-Pro, Létourno Camaro/Mustang, Toiture Arsenault Motorcycle/ATV/Snowmobile, Supertech Super Pro, Laboratoire Diesel 4×4 Pick-up Truck.

Since 2003, the Festidrag Series has offered a driver’s championship in the semi-pro class. This year, there is a driver’s championship in all categories with a trophy for 1st place after each competition. The person that will accumulate the most points over the course of the season will be crowned as the champion at Sanair and will earn the permanent prize for the class. This year, the prize will be a Rodania watch, a pair of general entrance season tickets, as well as one ticket covering registration for the entire 2015 Festidrag Series. In total, over $100 000 in prizes, trophies and gifts will be distributed amongst the winners during the 15th anniversary season – an unprecedented sum in Quebec!D3S_7010-2

Tickets for the final in Sanair are now available at festidrag.com or directly on site for $35, and admission is free of charge for children under 10. V.I.P. tickets, which include several advantages, are also available online.

It is with great enthusiasm that promoter Martin D’Anjou will close the 15th season of the Castrol Festidrag National Series, the only mobile series of ¼ mile acceleration duels to be held on airport landing strips in Canada. Moreover, since the beginning of the summer, fans of acceleration duels across North America have been able to watch a new show featuring Castrol Festidrag National Series: festidrag.tv. The show airs on RDS2 on Fridays at 19:00, as well as on Télémag’s Lundi plein gaz at 20:00. You can also view it at festidrag.tv.
