A mid-season update from within a popular Maritimes area racing circuit….

The Atlantic Canada Stock/Super Stock Association has reached its 1/2 way season mark and it’s a familiar name sitting at the top of the points standings.

After two wins and two runners-up in the first four races, defending ACSSA and John Scotti Canadian Championship Champ Mike Ingram has opened a commanding lead.

Racing his ’68 Chevelle (SS396) G/SA – from Middle Sackville NS  — Mike tops the leaderboard with half of the races run. However the season’s “top ten” points chase is hotly contentested with opportunity still for any one of several others to overtake him,  including racers Ryan Thibeault and Dan Nickerson sitting 2nd and 3rd in points respectively.

So far race winners this year (at “double header” events) held at Greenfield NS and Miramichi NB have been: Mike Ingram (2 wins), Jeremy Keans, Dave Garland (Nat Open Wally), and Dan Nickerson (Nat Open Wally) — all are in the top 5 in points.

Some tough racing — which is the norm within the ACSSA — remains, with five more events left on the season calendar including next weekend Aug 14-15 (Cape Breton National Open), Aug 16 (Cape Breton Dragway), and Sept. 26-27 (Greenfield Dragway).

Some impressive new cars have also been added to the circuit mix equation this year too – including Terry Kelson ’64 Thunderbolt AAA/SA, Trevor Ervin ’70 Chevelle SS396 B/SA. and Jim Miller’s ’79 Mustang U/SA.
