John Force is returning to Canada!
The legendary drag racer and winner of an unprecedented 16 NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) championships will be the Grand Marshall for the Hardcore Horsepower Shootout to be held June 7 and 8 at the St. Thomas Raceway Park in Southern Ontario.
Ironically, it was at St. Thomas that the iconic Funny Car driver last visited for some match racing in 1996.
Force will be at the track both days with his popular John Force Roadshow, a large display of his race cars and exhibits highlighting his career in the sport. He will also be part of several “meet and greet” sessions where fans can get their photos taken and autographs signed with the iconic drag racer.
The event is being presented by HURA (Heads Up Racing Association) and Kopp Motorsports, and will also feature two days of top drag racing with nitromethane and alcohol-powered Funny Cars, Pro Modifieds, and Top Fuel Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
“We are very excited about this event, and to be able to present John Force,” noted Rick Kopp, who, along with Lyle and Mary Ann Williams, is organizing the weekend. “We are proud to be able to bring in Force. This is a rare opportunity for racers and fans to meet up with the biggest name in the sport.”
Force, from Yorba Linda, California, has been racing Funny Cars for more than 30 years, and has been associated with Castrol and Ford during that time. And after 40 years behind the wheel, the soon-to-be 65-year old has lost nothing of his winning ability in 2014, winning the NHRA opening round at the Winternationals and leading the Funny Car class in points going into the GatorNats in Florida.
There are several meet and greet packages for fans, including a VIP package for $100 and a $50 general admission ticket which also allows the opportunity to meet Force.
Tickets are available through: www.horsepowershootout.ca and www.headsupracingassociation.ca
Passes will also be available at the Hardcore Horsepower Shootout exhibit at the upcoming MegaSpeed Custom Car and Truck Show in Toronto (Booth 331, Hall 2), and the Speed and Custom Car Show in London (Booth 128).
