Some recent times include a significant upgrade from within famous Canadian camp….

Fans who attended last month’s Canadian Nationals at Grand Bend Motorplex, did get the first public look at Canada’s newest Top Fuel class dragster.

Brothers Todd and Tony Paton did unload for the first time their recently assembled new dragster – the newest component of their current 2-car operation.

Due to weather complications that weekend at Grand Bend, the car’s maiden voyage down track was a shut off 330′ hit only.

“This car is a 2022 Lucas chassis which Doug Kalitta made 40-50 runs with,” revealed Tony Paton. “After that the car was parked after Steve Faria acquried it. He front halved it meet proper NHRA standards but never ran it — so we bought it this spring.”

The new Paton Racing TF car was unveiled recently at Grand Bend Motorplex.

“Our plan was to get some runs on it at Grand Bend and to ideally begin to cycle it in as our new car — but the rain derailed that. We didn’t get the laps in that we wanted so the decision was made to stay with our DSR chassis car for the next NHRA race – which Keith Murt (from Kentucky) was entered for.”

Murt, in what was his 7th career start while gaining Top Fuel experience (all within a Paton Racing Car) qualified #14 at the Brainerd Nationals before losing out to Shawn Langdon in round #1.

“After Minnesota we are hoping for a chance to run the new car again at some point this year,” Tony Paton added. “We are doing St Louis as our next race with Keith Murt — again in our DSR car.  We will see if something comes together after that for the West Coast events coming at the end of year.”
