New Saskatchewan Drag Strip!
In a long anticipated joint announcement the Estevan Drag Racing Association (EDRA) and the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) formalized EDRA as a member of IHRA’s rapidly growing Division Six……
The official announcement was made at a ceremony attended by an international cross-section including EDRA members, local business leaders represented by Estevan Mayor Honourable Roy Ludwig (Saskatchewan); IHRA Track Development Director Phil Gingerich (Texas), IHRA Division Six Director John Carnahan (Montana), and EDRA’s development consultant Track Planning Associates President Ron Colson (Illinois).
EDRA events are presently held at the City of Estevan Airport. With the support of Canadian corporate giant Prairie Mines & Royalties, EDRA has acquired a 100+ acre location in southern Saskatchewan near Estevan. The site, which is readily accessible to the neighboring provinces of Manitoba and Alberta, as well as the northern border states of the U.S. will be developed as a host facility for a Division Six event in the IHRA-Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Amsoil.
IHRA’s Gingerich stated that, “Estevan and EDRA have been a significant part of our future plans for Division Six. We are excited to have them join the IHRA family of tracks.”
According to EDRA President Dave Krahn, “After considering all of the options, EDRA decided that IHRA’s aggressive long range view for Western Canada and the northwest U.S. states was the best path for us to follow.”
Along with class and event sponsorships, signage programs, and many other traditional programs EDRA has initiated a program to sell track sponsorship by the inch. Race fans and businesses will have the opportunity to be the exclusive sponsor of 1” of a lane on the EDRA racing surface for $100 – possibly the most bang for the buck available in today’s racing world. More information on all of EDRA’s many programs is available at: www.edra.ca
