PMRA Michigan Stop Features 1st Time Winner
The Canadian-based PMRA took it’s product to far west Michigan state last weekend as it’s 2nd event of the 2014 season was presented at marquee U.S. 131 Motorsports Park….
The PMRA Pro Mod class was a featured part of that track’s annual Super Chevy Show and it produced a first time winner for the series; Randy Adler’s supercharged ’57 Chevy based from Tinley Park Ill.
After 4 rounds of qualifying, in eliminations Adler beat PMRA circuit regulars Jack Grainy and Jeff Roth in rounds one and two with consecutive runs of 6.316 and 6.230 secs.
That set up a final round confrontation with many time PMRA Champ and current points leader Bruce Boland (from Stoney Creek ON) who had advanced to the championship round based on two singles.
Driving his ’68 Firebird, Boland moved first (.016 RT) but at the top end Adler was able to edge him out taking a very close 6.223 secs 234.85 mph to 6.257 secs 234.07 mph decision.
Boland set low ET of the meet with a 6.097 secs qualifier and Jeff Roth collected top speed of the event at 234.86 mph.
The 2014 event was in fact the 2nd year in a row that the PMRA has included an event appearance at the premium Michigan drag strip.
“US 131 Motorsports Park is a first class venue and operation, Jason (Peterson) and his crew are great to work with,” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA. “We look forward to running there every year.”
The event also included the PMRA’s sister series’ – Quick 32 and PBSS. Wins in those categories went to Toronto-based Tony Positano (in Quick 32 T/D), Michigan’s Ken Langois (Q32 T/S) and to Michigan-based Suzuki rider Mark Catanzano in PBSS eliminator.
