The thriving & lucrative Eastern Canadian Super Tour celebrates it’s 2024 champions…
The 5-event 2024 Super Tour drag racing season has come to a close — and what a season it has was!
Featuring fierce competition and incredible displays of skill, this year’s championship battles were nothing short of thrilling as ET Bracket teams from across Canada put their talents on full display, pushing themselves and their vehicles to the limits in pursuit of national glory.
The Super Tour series proudly announces the national champions of the 2024 Canadian Super Tour series, where Mike Chenier, Brandon Barker, and Larry Jr. Lépine have emerged as the top contenders in their respective categories.
Their journeys to the top were marked by consistency, perseverance, and some truly spectacular performances on the track.
The 2024 Super Pro OVERALL national champion is Mike Chenier from Gatineau, QC, driving his 2008 Chevy Corvette, with an impressive total of 10,900 points. Chenier showed great consistency throughout the season, reaching several semi-finals, including at the Bracket Bonanza Week in Luskville (R5 and R7), and again at the Canadian Bracket Finals in Napierville (R10). At the Fall Bracket Championship in Luskville (R8), Mike delivered a remarkable performance, finishing as a runner-up and semi-finalist with his two entries. He then reached the semi-final at the Canadian Bracket Finals in Napierville (R9). This is Chenier’s 4th season in the Top 10, with his previous best being a 4th place finish in 2022. This is his first time as champion.
The 2024 Super Pro Dragster champion is Brandon Barker from Smiths Falls, ON, who had a solid season without any victories, but reached the semi-finals three times. His best performances came at the Bracket Bonanza Week in Luskville (R6), at the Canadian Bracket Finals in Napierville (R9), and again at the Fall Bracket Championship in Luskville (R10). These results earned him 9,000 points, securing his place among the season’s top drivers. Brandon Barker is a two-time Super Tour champion, having previously won the championship in 2018. This marks his 5th season in the Top 10.
The 2024 Footbrake category champion is Larry Jr. Lépine from Gatineau, QC, driving his 2010 Suzuki Hayabusa, with an impressive total of 11,400 points. He succeeds last year’s champion, Mike Reynolds, and earns a $1,500 prize, a champion’s jacket, and a trophy. Additionally, the Top 10 drivers receive a prize. Larry Jr. Lépine started the season impressively, reaching the semi-final at the Spring Bracket Break in Napierville (R2). He was then runner-up at the Summer Bracket Nationals in Luskville (R4), demonstrating exemplary consistency. During the Bracket Bonanza Week in Luskville (R6), he was again runner-up. Finally, he crowned his season with a victory at the Fall Bracket Championship in Luskville (R8), which solidified his place as champion. This is his 3rd time in the Top 5, having finished 3rd in 2022 and 5th in 2023.
The Super Tours Series also revealed Max Gauthier, from Kingston, Ontario, as the recipient of the prestigious — PRO1 Canada Most Improved Racer – title for this season! In only his third full season in the Super Pro category, Max has shown remarkable progress, delivering several impressive performances throughout the year.
Among his highlights are a final-round appearance at the Spring Bracket Break in Napierville last May and a semifinal appearance at the Summer Bracket Nationals in Luskville. Max finished the season ranked 9th in the overall Super Pro standings, an outstanding improvement from his 31st place finish last year.
In addition to his success at Super Tour events, Max Gauthier also shone on the National stage. He reached the final round at the season-ending event in Numidia, Pennsylvania, and posted several late-round finishes throughout the season at both Luskville and Napierville.
