Wawa Airport Venue to Join Northern Napa Tour
The Ontario-based Napa Auto Parts sponsored Show Me the Money Tour for ET Racers will include a new stop for 2012 in Northern Ontario at Wawa….
The event will be held August 10-12th at the airport to drag strip converted facility.
“We are extremely pleased to add yet another Northern Ontario community to the “Napa Auto Parts Money Tour”,” said circuit organizer Arnie Malcolm. “Wawa, Ontario has officially joined the circuit and will host the 3rd stop for this very rich and very popular bracket racing series which has been in existence since 1995. This is furthest North we have ever gone yet.”
When drag racing comes to Northern communities like this – for the local racing fans a fair comparison would be like an NHL hockey team stopping by to play a game.
Lori Johnson who heads up the Drag Racing committee and is the Director of Community Services and Tourism stated, “This is going to be a big deal for us”.
Also on board is Mayor Linda Nowicki and City Council who confirmed that the Municipality of Wawa is 100% behind hosting the 2012 drag race event.
The announcement comes after more than a year of research.
The event (August 10-12th ) will include some very unique additions including a $1000 to win Jr. Dragster event as well as the richest Super Pro purse in the history of Drag Racing in Canada. Specifics regarding those payouts will be made available in the not too distant future. The event will also include some exciting Jet Car exhibition runs.
