KHR presents more early season facts and figures for Canadian drag racing!….

Next “Northern Force” ChapterBob and Jory Elliott have a new car to play with in 2026. The Ontario based father and son team have completed a meticulous rebuild to an Undercover chassis dragster and their primary focus for this season will be Canadian events – within the Super Comp category.
The team will utilise a 565 CID BBC – rated at 950 HP which was prepped by Oakley Motorsports.
“We will target running for John Scotti Canadian National Open Series Super Comp Championship in 2026,” said driver Jory Elliott. “This is the first dragster my dad has ever owned and it will be the first I’ve ever driven.”
Family patriarch Bob Elliott has also licensed for the car too. Together the team will make it’s official public debut this coming weekend (at Toronto Motorsports Park) as part of the NHRA YES event – which helps to kick off season race #1 for the John Scotti Canadian National Open series this year.
“We will be introducing STEM at Speed (www.stematspeed.com) at the NHRA YES event,” he added. “After that, between races, we will visit schools through June and again in the fall.”

Added Incentives!  — This weekend’s first John Scotti NHRA Canadian National Open series event has received an extra boost – for attending Quick 32 Sportsman Series (Top Dragster & Top Sportsman) entrants.
Courtesy of new sponsor Fletch Racing, those teams will be eligible for some Guaranteed Bonus Cash Awards at the Toronto Motorsports Park race – May 16/17.
The winning Quick 32 Sportsman Series (Top Dragster and Top Sportsman combo) team will receive a $2,000.00 bonus, and the runner-up will receive a $1,000.00 bonus, over and above the posted purse each day.
“We are pleased to support the Quick 32 Sportsman Series (Top Dragster and Top Sportsman), which features outstanding teams,” said Bill Fletcher of Fletch Racing. “The May Victoria Day Weekend at Cayuga is a valued tradition that marks the start of summer, and we are proud to be involved.”
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series will compete at both of the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series NHRA National Open double-headers at Toronto Motorsports Park this season — including this weekend’s event and also over the Labour Day Weekend, September 4–6.

Return to the Scene! — This weekend’s NHRA Route 66 Nationals will include a fond return for Canadian native Jeff Arend to the site of his last NHRA level Funny Car class victory – which came back in 2012 (while a driver for Kalitta Racing/DHL team).
Arend, who has taken over the reigns as driver for the Jim Dunn Racing Funny Car and is largely responsible for that team’s now resurgent 2026 season. The Chicagoland race will be Arend’s 3rd start in the car and will also mark his 255th career NHRA national event entry in the category.
“I can’t wait for Chicago,” said Jeff, who is a Toronto area native. “Route 66 Raceway is one of my favorite tracks! Considering we have now gone down the track every run but one — Big Jim (Dunn) and I have a few ideas on how to up our performance. We were really happy with that 4.035-second Q1 run at South Georgia Motorsports Park recently. We’re hoping to get in the 3-seconds range at Route 66. I’m looking forward to running the Mooneyes colors — that scheme is always one of my favourites.”

Indeed Quite Impressive! — Canadian Eric Latino was once again on target performance wise for Pro Stock class racing during the recent NHRA Southern Nationals held at SGMP.
At that race, the (Port Perry) Ontario native drove his GESi-presented Camaro to a superb 6.508 secs to place #2 on the final qualifying grid. That math was just short of matching his career best qualifying effort – which was the PS pole position at last season’s NHRA Mid-West Nationals in St. Louis.
While Eric did not go far on Sunday in Georgia (.006 red light foul/round one) — he is set up well for his chances at this weekend’s NHRA Route 66 Nationals – chasing his first ever NHRA national event title.
