A Very Memorable Memorial Day!

Kingston Ontario-based Canadian Sportsman standouts Kenny Racing may have enjoyed their finest hour yet in drag racing over the recent Memorial Day holiday weekend…..

The popular and very formidable father and son team of Al and Jason earned a first for their racing careers – scoring a “double” victory during the NHRA’s LODRS event at Maple Grove Raceway.

Jason won in Super Gas over a 58-car field driving his Corvette when he topped Lance Krieger in that final round – 9.913 secs to 9.934 secs.  That happed just a few moments after Al Kenny had taken the win light over Franklin DiBartolomeo in the Super Comp (8.90) championship round.  Kenny won that double break out affair 8.896 secs to 8.896 secs to prevail over the very stout 64 car program.

Party on at Maple Grove Divisional!

“That was very special for us for sure,” stated Al Kenny.  “Usually at these races when the ladder comes out the first thing we look at is if we are on the opposite sides to see if and when we would be racing one another (because we both race cars in both classes).”

“I won in Super Comp first and after I got my win light I was pretty excited,” Al added.  “I made the big sweep round at the end of the track and then Jason came right behind me with two thumbs up – I realized then we had finally done it.”

Jason and Al have come close to the “double” before.  Last year during a NHRA LODRS event at Lebanon Valley NY– Jason won in Super Comp and Al placed r/up in Super Gas.
