First Flight Out! — Quebec’s Mathieu Dube and his racing partner Michel Levesque made their first ever NHRA national event appearance — for Pro Stock Motorcycle class racing — during NHRA’s Inaugural Great Lakes Nationals. With that, they became only the second Canadian team in NHRA PSM class history to file entry for a nationals event level race.
The aspiring new team did manage to qualify for their first ever race (#14) — hitting a best time of 7.543 seconds — but bowed out in round #1 to NHRA class powerhouse Matt Smith. Mathieu was aboard the MLR/2M Motorsports Suzuki which is a joint partnership with Levesque. At the Michigan race — the team most certainly did score some valuable experience for the future.

Chatterson Collaboration Chat! — Things have migrated even further and faster for Brantford Ontario’s Chatterson Racing team. After announcing the expansion to a two-car team last month — the team has been highly active on the radar ever since.  Over the just past Labour Day weekend at TMP — a California-based driver, Cam Brady — successfully completed his licensing for TAD behind the wheel of Chatterson Racing’s 2nd injected nitro car (formally raced by Jeff Veale).
“That was a great weekend,” stated Janet Chatterson. “Jeff Veale came out to assist & sign off for Cam’s licence. Cam is very experienced (worked with Duane Shields while living in California). His dad has been part of our team for a few years now and Ryan & Cam have become good friends — we are family.”
The team then headed out to NHRA’s Inaugural Great Lakes Nationals event where Jeff Chatterson entered the race team’s primary machine (aka “Big Blue” – below photo). Jeff enjoyed a tremendous effort — qualifying #4 – and then going on to a semi-final finish – his best ever in NHRA nationals level competition. Jeff beat Anthony Troyer and Jackie Fricke but lost on a red-light in the semis to JP Gutierrez. Jeff Chatterson’s best time at the Martin MI race was a very stout career best ET 5.217 secs at 279.85 mph (in round #2).

TE Titlist! — Edmonton’s RAD Torque Raceway has now wrapped up its 2026 Top Eliminator chase following a double header weekend (Sep 12-13). That 14-race season series (featuring only 1/4 mile TD/TS cars) is rightfully so classified by many as the toughest to win for anywhere in Canada. The 2026 champion is Daylen Miller from British Columbia. Daylen races a Undercover-chassis dragster which he purchased 9 years ago.
“I’ve been racing Top Eliminator for a while – but mostly just the odd weekend for the earlier years,” Daylen revealed. “My first year seriously competing for the TE points championship was in 2025. This year I was in 3 final rounds with 2 wins, & I won Top E Big Bucks as well. The 2026 championship was anybody’s game coming into Sunday of the last race day — but I secured the #1 spot after winning my second round & then took it all the way to win the race. The top 5 racers were all within a couple rounds of each other coming into the final weekend – so it was no easy feat. I am very proud for what I’ve accomplished this year.”

Cash is King! — Another cool accomplishment for Toronto-area fast street car proponent Joe Muro who won impressively during the infamous annual Yellow Bullet Nationals (held Sept 8th). Racing his ’70 Camaro within the event’s “No Time” format Lil’ Gangsters category — Muro pocketed a cool $10G for his weekend efforts at the Cecil County (Maryland) event. Joe’s team went through a very tough field of cars (many from his home turf — Buffalo and GTA area) before beating out Jacob Edwards in the final round – when Edwards had a foul start.

Classy @ Indy! — NHRA’s Cornwell Tools US Nationals event at Indy – as it always does, included arguably what are the most prestigious of the year chases for Stock and Super Stock racing’s “Class” runoff titles. There was a slew of Canadian representation for this season’s race – and that included class wins for Dan Velenosi’s 427 CID ’69 Camaro (from Binbrook ON – photo above) who captured SS/BA and for Quebec City’s Louis Gill who won the Combo FS class with his 302 CID 2012 Mustang (FS/G). Class runoffs at Indy also included three other Canadian finalists (R/UP placings) — for Doug Box for A/SA with his Camaro and dedicated Mopar-brand racers Ryan Boniferro (SS/FA) and Wendall Howes (SS/IA).
