Canadian Photo Extra from NHRA Las Vegas
NHRA’s recent SummitRacing.com Nationals at “The Strip” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway included a spectacular Canadian racing presence. Here is a photo essay of just some of the participants and highlights….

Ken Reich’s all new Chevy Cobalt from Edmonton was a winner in Competition eliminator with skilled driver Adam Bowdish at the wheel.

Regina’s Grant Singer was the top finishing Canadian in Super Stock — winning 3 rounds in his SS/BS Camaro before falling to World Champion Jimmy DeFrank.

A truly great sight at Las Vegas was an appearance by Shawn Cowie (and new wife Taylor) who were back at the track taking in the action!

Calgary’s Jirka Kaplan had a highly impressive run in TAFC – going to the semi-final round in the BearsPaw Petroleum Ford Mustang..

After great back to back events at Pomona and Phoenix – Edmonton’s Todd Lesenko was a surprise DNQ at Las Vegas

Tibor Kadar just missed giving car owner Tom Nolan (Lacombe AB) his first national event win. Nolan’s spectacular A/SA ’64 Fairlane was runner-up in Stock eliminator..

Toronto-native Jeff Arend had his best run so far as new driver for Jim Dunn Racing. Jeff lost by a very close margin to Robert Hight in FC round #1..

Casey Plaizier drove two cars at the event including his race team’s signature and familiar “Manglia” Super Gasser..

Truly good guy Geoff Goodwin (Red Deer AB) entered his Synoil-sponsored Chevy in TAFC with driver Jason Rupert advancing to the 2nd round..

Defending S/C World Champion Al Kenny had a strong run in S/G at Las Vegas – lasting to the 4th round in his Corvette..

Darrell Dietz from Medicine Hat Alberta entered his wicked AA/SA Mustang in NHRA national event competition for the first time..

Bob and Shelly Marhall (from Olds AB) entered their Chevy S-10 GT/TA (formally raced by Victoria Smith) in Super Stock..

Mike Pruss was a busy man at Las Vegas racing two cars — including his meticulous ’67 Camaro F/Stocker.
