There was certainly an impressive line-up of Western Canadian drag racers at last weekend’s NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion event at Bakersfield! That highlight package included a formidable 3-car event assault courtesy of Alberta team owner Harold Parfett and a Heritage Series A/FD championship clinching performance by Ryan and Les Davenport……
Alberta’s Jordan Pawlick continued to impress in his rookie season in Nitro Funny Car- qualifying 12th and going to round two on Sunday.
Mark Venance (from the Lloydminster area) had a super “final four” finish in the demanding 7.0 class
Western Canadian drag racing icons Terry Capp and Harold Parfett enjoyed all the action at Bakersfield.
Congrats to Ryan & Les Davenport and partner Jirka Kaplan who clinched the 2014 A/FD points title. (DRC will post a detailed feature on that accomplishment – soon)
Canadian NFC class powerhouse Tim Nemeth was the quickest Canadian qualifier with at 5.865 secs (9th) but lost in round one.
Relative A/FD class newcomer Mike Pawluk (Delta BC) qualified #10 with a 6.639 secs.
Wade Sjostrom (from Edmonton) tried his hand in the Pro Mod program but just missed the 8-car bump driving his ’57 Chevy
“Iceman” Funny Car crew man Jason Cadle sends driver Tim Nemeth on his way!
Joey Steckler went the furthest in eliminations for Canadian racers – placing runner-up in the Pro 7.0 “B” program in his show-stopping Corvette.
Nathan Sitko entered the “Team Ace” Plymouth Arrow in Nitro FC but missed the swift 5.984 secs bump.
Leon Aines (from Qualicom Beach BC) ran his very cool Canso-bodied FC in the Pro 7.0 category.
Jim Bersch thrilled the capacity crowd with another series of awesome burnouts in his “Bull-Dogger” Barracuda.
Troy Sitko brings his machine to a stop after a 7.028 secs run – to qualify #4 in Pro 7.0.
