Event headlines from within Ontario’s highly popular Canada Heads Up Shootout Series…

Season Race #2 for Canada Heads Up – Shootout Series (CHU)– presented by Speedwire Systems, Nash Competition Engines, Headrush Tattoo and Apparel and Cynergy Composites was back at Toronto Motorsports Park (TMP) for their second race of the series — July 12-14, 2024.

With the hot and sunny weather holding the mid-day track surface temps at 140 degrees, it was all the track staff could do to keep a race-able surface going for the heads up competitors.

The event was highlighted by two major win class wins by circuit drivers & series proponents Ralph Aulicino & Ian Hill who both scored titles racing their (new for 2024) race cars.

Aulicino picked up a ’67 Camaro at the end of last season as he prepared to graduate from the Joe Van O 5.50 Index racing to VP Racing Fuels Super Street. After a trip down to Menscer Motorsports (in North Carolina) to have the chassis set up, Ralph hit the track for a few test sessions including the CHU race 1 which was rained out after 3 rounds of qualifying.

Ralph Aulicino enjoyed a great outing using wicked consistency to win racing his newly acquired Camaro

Ralph and his team had the Camaro dialed in for eliminations! After qualifying with a 4.37, in the number 2 spot, Ralph ran 4.33, 4.31, 4.30 and 4.33 for his first win in his new hot rod!

Competitor Ian Hill brought his new 67 Camaro out to compete in the highly competitive Crosstown Engines EZ Street category during CHU Race 2.

After also visiting Menscer Motorsports to set up the chassis, Ian and his team raced to a second place finish at a Carolina NT event at Darlington Dragway in April this year.

Canadian elite fast street car proponent – Ian Hill — took the Crosstown Engines EZ Street title convincingly for CHU Series season race #2.

After struggling with the car slightly at Race 1, Ian’s team was able to qualify mid field for Race 2. Using a string of killer reaction times he was able to overcome the quicker elapsed times of his competitors throughout the Sunday Eliminator to take the win. Ian ran 4.76, 4.65, 4.59 and 4.61 for the win.
