CMDRA Eastern Nationals Offers 2-wheel Excitement 

Eastern drag racing fans are in for a real treat this coming June 1-2nd when Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports presents yet another first – the CMDRA Eastern Nationals.

The major event, which is the 2nd of seven races within the 2012 CMDRA’s season calendar will present motorcycle drag racing at its finest and will feature no less then 13 different categories of motorcycle competition.    

The event will include the marquee Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts Harley Davidson Nitro Harley division which will offer 16 qualifying slots.  Those death defying machines frequently propel their riders to elapsed times in the 6-secs zone at over 230 mph. 

“The Eastern Nationals will feature some of the very best Nitro Harley racers in the world including the #1 & #2 plated bikes from the U.S. and the top five from Canada,” confirmed Kevin Boyer, the CMDRA’s Executive Director.

The Canadian contingent will be lead by Boyer, who is fromAlberta and a very reputed racer himself.  Kevin was the first Canadian racer to break the 230 mph mark in the Nitro Harley class.  He will be challenged by many other prominent racers not the least of which is British Columbia’s Damian Cownden, the 2-time and defending CMDRA champion. 

“Everyone is really looking forward to coming to Cayuga,” Kevin added. “The track has such a great history and very fast reputation.”

The event will open it’s gates during the AM of June 1st with time trials and the first qualifying round will be at 5:00 PM that evening.  Saturday’s schedule includes two more qualifying rounds beginning at 1:00 PM with final eliminations slated to begin at 6:00 PM.

The CMDRA, which was first established in 1993, is the preeminent all motorcycle drag racing organization for Canada boasting over 400 members nation wide.

The 2012 CMDRA Championship series is presented by sponsors Parts Canada and Drag Specialties.
