CMDRA Updates

CMDRA Heads for the Badlands

The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association returns to Alberta on August 3rd and 4th for 2013 edition of the Badlands Nationals presented by Medicine Hat Harley Davidson. With only 3 races remaining in the season, points are at a premium and the racing action will be intense. Held on the ¼ mile NHRA sanctioned Medicine Hat Dragstrip, the CMDRA will take full advantage of the fully lit track and run qualifying “under the lights” on Saturday night.

In addition to racing featuring all classes and makes of bikes, including the Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel and V-Rod Destroyer series, the CMDRA will once again be hosting the Trev Deeley Drag Racing School at 12 noon on Saturday. This unique opportunity provides anyone on two wheels the chance to experience the thrill of the ¼ mile under the guidance and instruction of professional drag racers at absolutely no cost.

“Hi-Per” Al Miles Impresses in Ashcroft

Round 4 of the Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association 2013 season returned to the Eagle Motorplex in Ashcroft British Columbia where record weather saw track temperatures rise well above 130 degrees. Crowd favorite, “Hi-Per” Al Miles of Edmonton Alberta, took it all in stride, claiming first place in the Screamin’ Eagle Pro Dragster event to remain undefeated in 2013. In the final elimination round, Miles had to contend with Fort Saskatchewan’s Doug Casson, who was the only other racer in the class to run below the 8 second mark during the weekend, but a final round 7.811 second ET with a .150 R/T sealed the deal for the defending champion.

Also remaining undefeated in 2013, Saskatoon’s Nick Allen defeated Rick Adams in the finals of the  Screamin’ Eagle Western V-Rod Destroyer series.

Rob Aston of Calgary Alberta had a busy weekend taking first place in Pro Street and also running in the Super Street finals against 2012 CMDRA Street champion, Brent Gjaltema of Lloydminster, who defeated Aston to claim the victory in only his second race since moving into Super Street this season.
