Drag Strip Memories Show a Major Success
The 1st annual Drag Strip Memories show held recently at the War Plane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope Ontario was a major success…
The show (April 15th) which was conceived by and coordinated by dedicated Canadian drag racing proponent Rob Potter, featured a handful of pre 1974 race cars with the current Top Fuel dragster from Paton Racing added for comparison, plus the historic aircraft and displays including the Lancaster bomber.
A scale model display of Cayuga Dragway Park by Mark Dorcas and John Edwards included many Canadian race replicas. Thousands of photos were on display along with posters, clothing, signage, movies, and related memorabilia.
Four car clubs participated and race series ONDR (Ontario Nostalgia Drag Racers) held their annual meeting at the site. The organisers expected approximately four hundred spectators and were thrilled when over one thousand people attended.
Plans are already underway for next year’s event that will be bigger and better.
