Grand Bend Motorplex Earns Local Honours
Thriving Ontario drag strip is named “Business of the Year” recently by local Chamber of Commerce….
In November the Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce held their annual awards banquet and Grand Bend Motorplex was honoured with the “Business of the Year “distinction for 2013.
“It is nice to be honoured/recognized by the community you do business in” says Paul Spriet GBM owner/operator “many times racing facilities are not appreciated in their communities and it is refreshing to have the Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce see the positive aspects we bring to the community”
Grand Bend Motorplex was chosen based on a number of criteria, part of which includes bringing approximately 60,000 people into the Grand Bend area on an annual basis. Per a government provided calculator on average tourism spending that translates into approximately $10 million dollars of local spending. GBM employs close to 100 people during the season, mostly students and those looking for seasonal employment, plus we help various local charity groups raise funds by hiring them to help out at our larger events. GBM’s advertising and marketing campaigns, in excess of $100,000 annually promote and attract people to the Grand Bend area.
“Being part of the Grand Bend tourism region is a win/win ” says Ron Biekx GBM’s General Manager “ Many times new people to GBM and the Grand Bend area have commented on how much there is to do and how well they are treated. In addition to our great events, our patrons have the ability to enjoy many great activities within 10 minutes of our facility – awesome beaches, restaurants, bars, shops, museums, theatres, golf courses, etc. There is something here for everyone.”
“Grand Bend Motorplex is very proud of this achievement, and we couldn’t have accomplished it without our great staff “ said Spriet “ We are looking forward to another great year in 2014”.
