Hawker to Prowl With Corvette Again
Ontario racer will look to improve upon his 3rd place finish in 2012 PMRA season with his supercharged Corvette…
.
Derek Hawker, who placed third in the 2012 Pro Modified Racing Association standings, said he has no big changes in store for the upcoming season.
.

.
Hawker qualified the Corvette at all PMRA races last year, and his best showing was a runner-up finish against Sam Andreacchi in the final at Grand Bend in August. The Vanishing Points Race Car chassis is powered by an Alan Johnson 526-cubic inch engine with a PSI D-Screw supercharger and Atchison fuel system which propels the car down the quarter-mile in just over six seconds at about 230 mph. A Lenco three-speed transmission sits behind the engine.
.
The team, which is crew chiefed by Scott Sager, will be entering its fourth in PMRA racing in 2013. Corrie Hawker, McKenzie Hawker, Brittany Hawker, and Eli Mayhew make up the rest of the team, which is sponsored by Hawker Construction, Pennzoil and Empey Tire.
.
While Hawker said he was pleased with his performance last year, he added he would certainly like to do better for the upcoming season.
.
“Sure, we did okay last year,” he noted, “but hopefully we will do a little better this year.”
.
The 2013 PMRA season opens May 10-11 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, the first of eight events this year.
