Canadian “long and loud” cars make strong impressions during June NHRA circuit racing…..

Versatile Texas based driver Alan Bradshaw wheeled the Manitoba-based Doucette Racing A/FD to a runner-up finish during the NHRA’s Summit Racing Equipment Nationals (June 26th). This Doug Doucette owned operation qualified #2 (5.286 secs) and out ran Dan Dietrich, Madison Payne and Mike Coughlin during eliminations — before losing a close match to Matt Cummings in the final – 5.313 sec to 5.388 secs.

After placing a superb runner-up finish during a North Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing race (June 5th) – Jeff Chatterson (Brantford ON) had his strongest showing yet at the NHRA national event level during the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals (also held at Norwalk OH). Jeff qualified his ever improving injected nitro car #9 and defeated Mick Steele and Jasmine Salinas enroute to a “final four” placing on Sunday.

Kingston Ontario native Al Kenny earned his 10th career NHRA national event score during the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals. Al (who now resides in PA) singled in the final round when his schedule opponent Karma Hopper could not make the call. Al was the 4th quickest car on the T/D qualifying list – running a quick 6.166 secs.

After recording a career quick 3.775 secs to qualify 9th during the New England Nationals (June 4th) – Quebec’s Daniel Mercier gave NHRA racing at Norwalk Ohio his first ever TF experience. Daniel did run a best of 3.903 secs at Summit Racing Equipment Park – in the Amalie Motor Oil backed car — but that fell just shy of the bump – 3.900 secs.

Manitoba’s Clif Bakx and his driver Todd Bruce (from North Dakota) was another Canadian based team entered for TAD class racing at Norwalk. The newest version of “The Bull” did run a solid 5.418 secs to qualify well but then lost out to Megan Smith in round #1 of class competition.
