Some great stuff from some deserving Canadian drag racers recently that certainly warrents acknowledgement!….
Wa Wa Wee Wa! — DragRaceCanada got it’s first peek at Mike Gondziola’s awesome new C7 which debuted recently on the PDRA Pro Nitrous circuit. Mike ran it for the 2nd time at the PDRA’s Summer Drags in Michigan last weekend. He qualified #13 with a nice 3.834 secs lap and barely lost out to Jim Camp’s Camaro in round one: 3.856 secs to 3.869 secs. DragRaceCanada will have a detailed feature on Mike and his machine (which is based out of Saskatoon) – coming next week.
Canadian Power Play – The Winnipeg-based injected nitro car owned by Clif Bakx and driven by Gord Gingles just missed winning yet another NHRA Lucas Oil event last weekend in Tulsa Oklahoma. Gord lost a narrow final round decision to Chris Demke (5.281 secs to 5.307 secs) but before that – qualified #1 (at 5.304 secs) and set top speed at a booming 275.79 mph. This team is also qualified for and will be representing their division and Canada at the uber prestigious Jegs All-Stars event in Joliet next month!
Corvette Clockwork – Nova Scotia’s John Armstrong won one of the most gruelling NHRA Lucas Oil Divisional races presented in North America annually. The veteran racer prevailed in Super Stock over a truly massive field at Reading PA (May 29). After qualifying his SS/AA Corvette #8 – John had to win 7 rounds to take the title. His final round lap of 8.873 secs at 150.83 mph beat opponent Charlie Bubka.
