Locked in for TNT Super Series “Bonus Race”

Since the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series was created in 2006, there have been sixty-five events with twenty-eight different winners.  As TNTSS event winners, all twenty-eight are qualified for the upcoming Performance Improvements TNTSS Race of Champions where they will battle for overall bragging rights as the best of the best.

Saturday September 1st at Cayuga Dragway will see these drivers compete in a no entry fee, no qualifying session, winner/runner-up take-all shootout as part of the Canadian Funny Car Championships.  This year’s winner will receive a certificate for Performance Improvements valued at $1200 and the runner-up $600.

The second annual Performance Improvements TNTSS Race of Champions has seen sportsman racers from across the northeastern US and throughout southern Ontario racing hard all season long for a chance to get in.  The ONLY way in is to win a TNTSS event.  In 2012 there have been four new winners – Chris VanBaalen, Jamie Tupper, Harry Phelps and Jim Thomson – who are all now qualified for the highly anticipated ROC.

The field will be laddered from round one based on most overall wins since TNTSS inception with ties broken using most runner-ups and then total overall points earned.

The inaugural ROC in 2011 saw Jon Jablonski from West Seneca, NY march through the field and defeat Brampton, Ontario’s Andrew Stirk by pushing him under the 10.90 index.

This year’s ROC is presented by Performance Improvements Speed Shops.  “We’re so lucky to have support from these guys,” said Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director.  “They have been THE place to go to in southern Ontario for performance advice for almost 50 years!  To have them promote our series, and specifically the Race of Champions, is a huge boost for us!”

“Performance Improvements is proud to be the title sponsor of the TNTSS Race of Champions.  The TNT series fits within Performance Improvements desire to support local racers within our area.  Grass roots racing is still where the fun is,” said Bob McJannett, President of Performance Improvements.

“Each racer has earned their way into the field Sept 1st and we should be treated to some very close racing with every pass. We are all looking forward to the race.  See you there!”

About the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series (TNTSS):

Since it began in 2006, the TNT Super Series has grown into one of the strongest, most competitive sportsman drag racing series in North America and has catapulted many competitors to success on the national and divisional stages.

The TNTSS is a self-governing organization with input from its teams.  Based on NHRA’s Super Street & IHRA’s Hot Rod classes, competitors run on a 10.90 index in the 1/4 mile (7.00 in the 1/8 mile) and race for a guaranteed purse that pays back more than 100% of the racer’s entry fees.  The yearend points fund pays the top five finishers and the Series Champion receives a prize package worth over $3500.00.

The TNTSS is committed to providing the highest level of competition backed by solid media support to showcase its participants across North America.  Events are contested at various drag racing facilities in southern Ontario and western New York and put on a spectacular show for the drag racing fan.
