More Accolades for “The Bull” Racing Team
The dynamic NHRA Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Dragster team owned by Manitoba’s Clif Bakx collected some very significant and well deserved recognition earlier this month during the NHRA’s Division 5 Banquet held in Kansas City….
At that season celebration “The Bull” Racing team were not only honoured for their 2nd consecutive NHRA Lucas Oil Central Region championship — they also collected two other very impressive awards.
Driver Gord Gingles was named “Pro Sportsman Driver of the Year” and team owner Clif Bakx was selected as “Pro Sportsman Mechanic of the Year”.
“What an unbelievable journey this has been,” said Gord Gingles. ” We enjoyed another great season in 2013; ran our best numbers ever 5.28 (Brainerd) & 276 MPH (Houston), won a national event against some of the best cars in the world and repeated as Central Region champ — in a word – unbelievable!”
“At the beginning we were just looking to build on last year’s results, one round at a time,” he added. “This team is made up of an exceptional group who all work very well together servicing the car and keeping it safe. Clif has undertaken to learn everything he can about an A/Fuel car. He has done a remarkable job both putting the program together, and tuning the car.”
Gord and Clif are hoping to just keep on ticking in 2014 and have revealed their tentative racing schedule.
“2014 will see us concentrate primarily on NHRA’s Lucas Oil regional races again,” he confirmed. “Racing at Houston, Indy, Mission, Tulsa, Topeka, Earlville, and maybe Noble OK. And depending on crew, we will fit in a NHRA national event or two with Brainerd and Topeka being the most likely.”
The team also confirmed that there will be no major changes to the car or tune-up for 2014 other then some minor modifications to the fuel system to help take advantage of the latest NHRA rule changes within the class.
