New Alignment for Martino Motorsports
Canada’s only NHRA Pro Stock racing team has formed a new racing alliance with MB Race Engines…
In a last-minute move, Canadian Pro Stock driver Mark Martino (Stoney Creek Ontario) has signed a multi-race deal with MB Race Engines for the 2013 NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series season, and plans to make his debut at the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL this coming week.
After running a very limited schedule in 2012, Martino is excited to get behind the wheel of the DeSantis Crane Service supported Pontiac GXP, and is looking forward to a productive and successful season.
“I’m excited to get back out to the track,” Martino said. “I can’t thank MB Race Engines enough for this opportunity, and I look forward to having their engines in our car.”
Martino will be teaming up with seasoned Pro Stock racers Bob Benza and Tom Martino, and their promising new engine program. Benza and T. Martino teamed up to open MB Race Engines in 2012, building motors for all levels of Drag Racing to include Competition Eliminator and Pro Stock and Circle Track.
“We are excited to be teaming up with Mark Martino,” Benza said. “The shop is working long hours to prepare the engines, car and transporter to be ready for testing in Bradenton, Florida and then onto the Gatornationals.”
Both groups are looking forward to what will hopefully be the beginning of a long partnership.
“Bob and I had only known each other for less than a year when we began discussions about options for the upcoming season, we spent some quality time together and this all seems like a natural fit,” Martino said.
Added Benza, “I’m really looking forward to seeing where the future will take us.”
