For the 2nd year in a row and for the 3rd time overall – Manitoba’s “The Bull” race team has prevailed in LODRS race action in Iowa….

NHRA’s West Central division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series touched down at Earlville Iowa’s Tri-State Raceway this past weekend.

For the 3rd time after 5 visits to the annual TriState Raceway LODRS Regional Event in the heart of America’s cornfields — ‘The Bull’ injected nitro dragster & crew are returning to Canada with the event’s Top Alcohol Dragster ‘Wally’ in hand!

“The Bull” – from Manitoba – once again outmuscled the LODRS TAD competition in Iowa last weekend.

After battling through  two tough rounds in Top Alcohol Dragster it was Gord Gingles from Winnipeg Manitoba who prevailed for the second year in a row. Gingles, who has two previous NHRA regional point championships to his credit already, combined a better R/T with a winning run of 5.345 seconds, 272.17 mph  in the final round to defeat Nevada’s Duane Shields.

That final round match up did feature the #1 and #2 qualified cars — with Shields being the low qualifier at 5.326 secs the day before compared to Gingles’ 5.352 secs.

Gingles, who is the driver for car owner Clif Bakx, had defeated Megan Meyer in round one and then carded low ET of the event in the semi final round (@ 5.309 secs) while topping Gary Cooper.

Gord Gingles and Clif Bakx continued their prominence in NHRA's Lucas Oil Central Division this season!

Gord Gingles and Clif Bakx continued their prominence within NHRA’s Lucas Oil Central Division this season!

“This car loves this track, it was happy all weekend” said Clif Bakx, “Our after run-service showed all that – because all the leak downs were great, lash check was consistent, upper rod bearings weren’t wearing, and we never once had to the pull the heads”.

“And Gord did a great job of driving,” Clif affirmed. “He was cutting great lights. The car kept hikin’ the front wheels & movin’ out of the groove and he used a bit more than 1320’ in getting to the finish line on a couple of the runs! But that’s what makes Gord one of the best drivers in this class!”

The team’s round one win over Megan Meyer last weekend also proved to be pinnacle. That and the event win has expanded the points gap between Gingles and Meyer to pretty much cement Canada’s “The Bull” team as the 2016 NHRA Lucas Oil Central Region Champion. 2016 will be the team’s 3rd Regional Championship — in just their sixth year of NHRA TAD racing.

That's six career LODRS wins (and counting) for "The Bull"!
