Rousing Start for 2012 Eastern Canadian Series’ 

The horses have vaulted from the gate for the 2012 season in the PMRA, Quick 32 and PBSS Racing circuits….

Kitchener’s Jeff Roth emerged as the biggest winner during the season opening Victoria Day Challenge event held at Toronto Motorsports Parks’ Cayuga Dragway – taking the Roth Racing 1942 Willys Coupe to victory lane.

Roth scored his win after qualifying #2 for the event with a career best and first ever “five” 5.999 secs run.  Jeff took the measure of former and multi-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland of  Hamilton,Ontario in the final when Boland, also driving a supercharged Willys, had a red light foul start in the B&B Racing machine.

Roth’s PMRA victory included round wins over former IHRA AFC star racer Robbie Atchison (from London) and also fast rising circuit Corvette Pro Mod driver Derek  Hawker who is from Corbyville  ,ON.

Boland had qualified on the pole following three rounds of time trials hitting a 5.984 secs  which was a mark that held up for low ET of the event. 

Other winners included Dan Aiken Jr of Belle River, Ontario who captured the Quick 32 Sportsman Series event, while the PBSS win went to Pete Stewart ofToronto.  

The Top Sportsman Mustang entry of Aitken bested the Top Dragster of Mike Everitt of Stratford, Ontario in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series final.  The Top Sportsman cars race in a 16-car field, as do the Top Dragsters, and the winner of each is paired in an event final.

Aitken ran a 7.184, 192.38 mph with his nitrous injected car which held off Everitt’s 6.916, 187.18 mph effort.

Aitken, who qualified sixth, eliminated former Quick 32 Sportsman Series champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford,Ontario in the Top Sportsman final, and Everitt, who qualified ninth, eliminated Michael Kalin of Niagara Falls, NY in the Top Dragster final.  

Pete Stewart of Toronto won his first PBSS event, besting Chris Bondi of Aurora in the final. Stewart, who qualified sixth in the field, ran a 9.499, 143.22 on his Pro Bike GSXR as Bondi, on a Skidoo Pro Sled, fouled in the race.

The next race for the PMRA will mark a return to U.S.soil as that circuit along with it’s sister series’ the Quick 32 and the PBSS will be featured part of the upcoming Summer Showdown at US 131 Motorsports Park at Martin ,Michigan — June 8-9th.
