Chris Siroski’s 1969 Cougar ET car reportedly has 1000 HP under the hood and after a series of power stands like this — we are believers!

Kevin Roufosse’s Saskatoon-based FMD was one of a number of Nostalgia-themed exhibition cars on hand.

Jay and Courtney Mageau played a big part of 50th race with runs in their nitro and alcohol fuelled nostalgia Funny Cars.

The racer response from all across Western Canada for the event was impressive.

The SIR Anniversary display included some very historical equipment and race cars!

Some cool and seldom seen elsewhere regional Pro Mods were on hand – including Shawn Bulechowsky’s “Tarzen” Corvette from Rosedale AB

This Pro ET Mustang driven by Brandon Bennett found the starting line traction to it’s liking.

A lot of credit for the success of the SIR 50th must be directed to the event organization done by Murray McDonald!

The pit area (including both unique race car and tow vehicle) for provincial natives Sherrie and Dave Bodnarchuk was a popular fan attraction.

Alberta racers Scott Bourdain (top) and Ron Sekura were both fan favourites due to obvious and very smokey reasons!

We really liked the Fast Street car stuff at Saskatoon including this neat little turbo Chevy II raced by Regina’s Colin Gee.

A couple of very cool vintage Dodge Chargers were entered by Ben and Dana Weeks from Saskatoon.

Daren Keller made some exhibition runs racing a very historical car for the area – the “Scrapper II” H/MP Mustang (This car was then reportedly sold for some major $$$ at the event’s conclusion!)

The “Rat Trap” — one of two AA/FA cars booked in for the race — was a major attraction!

Edmonton’s Wade Sjostrom – who went on to win the Pro Mod class on Sunday — had this very cool “mini museum” for race fans right in his trailer in the pits!

Some real slick regional cars in Super Pro class racing included this ’72 Duster campaigned by Jack Neufeld (from Osler SK)

SIR track pioneer Les Howard received some much deserved pre-race accolades.

That’s “70 something” veteran Don Whitehead doing a very smoky burnout in his FMD.

This very cool ’61 Sunbeam was entered by Travis McBain from Saskatoon in Super Pro.

Western Canadian drag racing proponent Joey Stecker bought in his class act from Edmonton.

Tim Vogt – one of SIR’s most famous racing names – towed in from Kelowna BC to race his PM Corvette.

Bob Heroux’s hard leaving ’71 Olds was just one of 45 cars entered in Super Pro.

Kevin Therres – a long time supporter of Western Canadian drag racing (and Jet Car driver) — had two of his granddaughters racing Junior Dragsters: Desirae and Destiny.

Perry Thyr (from Drayton Valley AB) raced this very nicely prepped nitrous-injected 2002 Camaro all the way to the PM class final round.

Thats our good buddy and ace photographer Blair Alderton – going the extra (quarter) mile for great photography!

But in the end – the real stars of the SIR 50th event was the record setting crowd which came out in mass to support it!
