Tim Boychuk, arguably one of Canada’s all time most versatile racers – will climb back into the cockpit of a Top Fuel dragster this weekend….
The very popular Edmonton-based drag racer has entered for Top Fuel competition for this weekend’s NHRA season penultimate event, the Toyota Nationals at Las Vegas.
Tim will be behind the wheel of the Canadian-based Paton Racing Top Fuel dragster – a car and team which he has raced with and for very successfully on previous occasions.
The Paton car which has shown very steady improvement throughout the 2015 season, has serious potential to qualify for the event.
As an independent, Boychuk is coming off a very successful 2015 season in his own right. Racing his “Happy Hour” themed Pontiac Firebird Nostalgia Funny Car, Tim and his wife Donna placed a superb third in final World Championship points for IHRA’s AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car (presented by Aeromotive) season chase – the best finish yet by a Canadian based driver in that series.
The Las Vegas event TF appearance will also further affirm the versatile talents for Boychuk as a driver. During the 2015 season he also raced behind the wheel of another Nostalgia Funny Car (owned by Twig Zeiger) as well as some appearances in a exhibition jet car (the very unique “Secret Weapon” tank owned by Alberta’s Brad Janishewski)
The Paton Racing Top Fuel dragster, owned by Canadian icon Barry Paton, which just barely missed qualifying at the last NHRA race held in Dallas Texas with (Shawn Reed at the controls) – will also be entered for the NHRA season finale Auto Club Finals at Pomona. The Washington-state based Reed is scheduled to be the driver at that event.

Tim Boychuk’s 2015 has featured some interesting rides – including a couple of cool Nostalgia Funny Cars and even a jet powered tank!
