Two very impressive Canadian sportsman drag racer accomplishments spotlighted — one from East and one from West….

What a remarkable 2025 season for NHRA Stock eliminator racer Mike Ingram, from Middle Sackville NS. Just recently after action was completed at Toronto Motorsports Park’s season final event for the John Scotti NHRA Canadian National Open Series (Sep 26-27) — Ingram was mathematically crowned officially as the season championship — collecting a very coveted Stock/Super Stock Combo title.

Mike, who had already been a very dominate racer within the Maritimes’ overall drag racing scene and the Atlantic Canada Stock/Super Stock Association (ACSSA) in particular for a number of years was regarded a pre-season favourite. And by season end he most certainly responded to that notion — by winning both early and often for 2025.

Ingram’s F/SA classed ’68 Chevelle won four of the John Scotti Open chase races this summer, assuming victory lane for Napierville PQ, Miramichi NB and Cape Breton Dragway in Nova Scotia (2 wins) hosted events.

Mike Ingram was a “frequent traveller” to victory lane in 2025 – including at Napierville PQ and Miramachi NB NHRA John Scotti National Open events.

For Mike Ingram — this season trek and success was most certainly hard earned and gratifying.

“Drag racing has been in my blood and a passion in life since I was 7-years old when my father (Ray) took me for a ride in his Monza,” Mike said. “Now there’s nothing like that moment when you turn on win lights racing against some of the best in the world.”

“Thanks to John Armstrong, C2 Automotive, JNB, Dad and Dana for all the support.” he then emphasised.

An oh — we would be so remiss if we did not also mention that the 2025 season campaign did include Mike’s 5th career Atlantic Canada Stock/Super Stock Association Championship as well. He clinched that honour during another ACSSA event win at his home track Greenfield Dragway just a few days ago. Ingram’s previous ACSSA season titles had come in 2019, 2020, 2023, and 2024.

While Ingram’s drag racing accomplishments have been mostly on a Canadian regional in strength so far — we will not be very surprised if and when his name does eventually show up in a win column at a future NHRA nationals level event.

Dean Moggach (from Dundas ON) finished a superb 2nd in final John Scotti NHRA Open Series season points.

Within Western Canada, no one will ever argue that Edmonton’s home-grown Top Eliminator (presented exclusively at RAD Torque Raceway) is not one of the most difficult series to win — anywhere within coast-to-coast Canada.

Since being first established by Edmonton-area iconic brothers Bob and Gord Ebertz, back in 2007 – Top Eliminator completed it’s 18th season of operations this year – with yet another demanding 10-race points series schedule.

Top Eliminator at Edmonton is full 1/4 mile, featuring Top Sportsman and Top Dragster class cars always head-to-head. Over the years “TE” has given birth and then nurtured an extremely long list of rising star Western Canadian drag racer talents.

Curtis Smith used impressive season consistency to win RAD Torque Raceway’s very coveted Top Eliminator season title for 2025.

For 2025 a brand new series champion was crowned, when a long time class participant, Curtis Smith prevailed. Racing his TnT-chassis dragster, Smith, who is from Stony Plain AB., took the title by a single point (527-526) over another long time series racer and previous champ, Scott Hearn.

As fate would have it, Smith actually won just one of the series races in 2025 – but that combined with a R/UP and multiple semis during his season campaign, exemplified the notion/benefits of how just “sticking around late” at events can help claim glory.  Curt had just a single first round exit during class eliminations – all season.

Some deserving congratulations from Top Eliminator co-founder Bob Ebertz!

“I originally ran a 615 CID Sunset serviced by Boucher Motorsports,” Curt revealed. “I had bought a bare chassis directly (from TnT) in 2017 — and I did the complete finishing of everything else. We started off Pro-charged, but then intentionally slowed it down to run more local bracket racing more consistently.”

“I’ve been running Top Eliminator for 15 yrs now — with 3 different cars. I’ve had a lot of wins along the way and placed top 3 multiple years. So it really feels good to finally take home this championship. It’s very difficult to win here — let there be no mistake — Top Eliminator Edmonton is the toughest bracket class in Western Canada.”

“I’m very grateful to have all my family and friends supporting me,” he added. “And most importantly I’m happy about giving my sponsors a good reason to continue there. Thanks to my main supporters Impact Coatings, Hopp Welding and Modified Welding & Fabrication.”

Edmonton’s Top Eliminator points R/UP (for 2025) was area class strongman  Scott Hearn.
