Cayuga Dragway’s Victoria Day Weekend race marked an official season kickoff for major drag racing in Eastern Canada…
The event which highlighted round #1 for the Napa AutoPro Ultimate Showdown Drag Racing Series, and which was also the season starting point for three other prominent Canadian drag racing circuits, was pretty darn entertaining and eventful!
Here is just a taste – a photo extra presentation courtesy of our subsection sponsor Fast Eddie Racewear.

Eastern Canada Pro Mod class newcomer – Roger Jongerden – made his first ever runs driving his new 70.5 Camaro

Here is a first look at the potent new 70.5 turbocharged Camaro owned by Fred DeJonge and driven by Wes Goddard.

Gary Mater (from Petrolia) made some solid laps in his new turbo Mustang and went to the semi-final round.

Spencer Hyde converted his normally classed TS Camaro over to Outlaw 10.5 competiton for the Cayuga event.

The USDRS’ great field of TD class racers included brothers Austin and Brody VanDerGeld who ran two cars in the class

Quebec’s Luc Angers – one of Eastern Canada’s top rated TS drivers – tried his hand for the first time in USDRS.

Canadian icon Wally Clark well represented the terrific Can-Am Stock/SS series cars on hand for the weekend.

And speaking of icons – that’s Bill “the clapper” Barnes with his son Ted (the driving force behind the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series)

We really liked this neat (and actually Hilborn injected!) 10.90 HR Chevelle raced by New Yorks’s Ron Dalessandro

Tyler Scott ran a superb 5.719 secs to qualify #1 by a mile in the NDRA feature – but was forced to withdraw from competition after Saturday evening.

Even more cool cars to come! Check out this wild new winged ’57 Chevy which made some initial check out runs!
