Calgary’s Kenny Gilmour Motorsports is priming itself for a return to the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series this season….

ken-logo1The reputed team, which first became active within the Top Alcohol Dragster class during the year 2000, but stepped back last year, will re-emerge on the circuit this spring with a new look and new driver for their potent Brad Hadman chassied and supercharged car.

According to team owner and class patriarch Kenny Gilmour, “We spent most of the 2014 season rebuilding our race car operation from the top down. We installed an all new carbon fibre body and engine trays and finessed a new engine and transmission combination.”

The team which has also been a honing ground for a number of talented drivers, including (most recently) Ashley Bart and Greg Hunter, will also be announcing their new (American-based) team driver in the near future. Expectations are currently that the team will make it’s official return during the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals to be held in Las Vegas (April 10-12th). After that a season focus on the NHRA Lucas Oil Regional series and additional select NHRA national events is planned.

Returning to the team as primary sponsor is Omega 2000 (a concrete foundation company for housing & condominium building complexes). The team has added in two new sponsors for this season too. A concrete placement company – MTD Flatworks and ProRing Supply who are a major vendor of Extreme brand competition rings and engine bearings.

“In fact in conjunction with ProRing Supply we will inventory rings and bearings at NHRA events,” Kenny added. “We intend to stock products for the convenience of TAD, AFD and TA/FC teams.”

Kenny Gilmour Motorsports cars have always been highly competitive and in the mix at all races entered. However, Kenny is confident and convinced his team is primed for even more improvement this coming campaign.

“In 2013 we qualified in the middle of the fields most of the season,” he reflected. “However the top racers in our class are all now parked in the sub 5.30 (secs) zone. So we need to move on down to that level – and that’s our season objective.”
