New Ride and Strong Sponsorship Puts Rick Kopp Right Where He Wants to Be

Armed with increased support from major sponsor We Install It, Rick Kopp will again compete in the full Quick 32 Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts in 2012, as well as get his feet wet behind the wheel of a Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car.

“We accomplished some great things in 2011, including our five number one qualifying efforts and record setting performance at the final event in the Quick 32 Series, and I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of not only my dragster again this year, but also that Nitro Funny Car.” said an excited Rick Kopp.

The teams major sponsor We Install It will continue to take top billing with the Top Dragster team and has stepped up to fill that role with the newly formed Nitro Funny Car program as well.

“Our sponsorship of Kopp Motorsports has been very rewarding and mutually beneficial. Rick and his team are fantastic and represent We Install It very professionally. The brand awareness of We Install It has never been higher and we look forward to a successful 2012 racing season with Rick and his We Install It Racing team.” Said Blair Payne who manages Business Development for the company.

“Driving a fuel car has been a dream of mine since I first started drag racing and I can’t thank my sponsor We Install It, or Billy Leverentz and everyone at Oddy’s Dyno Tested Engines enough for their help making this a reality.” stated Kopp.

Joining the list of returning sponsors for the 2012 season, which includes GK Services, A.D. Custom Fab, Oddy’s Dyno Tested Engines and Creative Edge Graphics, are newcomers Brad Penn Lubricants, who’s Penn Grade 1 Oil is the preferred product for use with Rick’s HEMI engine combination, and Aulward Graphics who will take on an associate role and handle all of the team’s printing needs for the season.

Mike Everitt Joins Quick 32 Series for 2012 Season

New Stratford based Top Dragster team will run nitrous assisted car….

Mike Everitt is planning on going faster this year than he ever has in drag racing.

With a new Top Dragster, Everitt will be competing in his first year of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and he said he is looking forward to his season.

We’ve been following the series, and to wanted to jump into it, said Everitt, who will drive the Everitt Racing Team car. We bought the car late last year, and only have a couple of laps on it.

Although he has raced since 2004, the dragster will be a new experience for the former doorcar racer. He did race a slower dragster, but has not experienced the under seven-second times this car should be capable of.

I’ve been down the track a million times, he said, but not in this car. We’ve got a lot to learn and we’ll have to get used to this car.

The 2008 Mullis Race Cars chassis holds a 632-cubic inch engine with Dart Big Chief oval – Race Flow Development equipment, and utilizes a Hutch’s Transmission Service two-speed Powerglide-based transmission. A large carburetor sits atop the engine, and employs a Speedtech Nitrous system. Everitt added the engine has been dismantled and is getting freshened up, but the team will be ready for opening day.

Crew chief for the car is Mike’s father Ken Everitt. The rest of the crew consists of Dean Wilson, Frank Wilson, Bob Robinson and Tyler Kawalez, along with Sheila Everitt. Sponsorship for the team is provided by Morrison/Everitt Ltd. and Wilson Salvage.

The team realizes the competition in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series has become stronger since it began in 2009, and will try to make its mark in the upcoming season.

The bar keeps getting raised, said Everitt. And I think this year it’s going to be raised some more.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts kicks off its 2012 season with the Victoria Day Weekend Challenge May 18-20 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, the first of six events.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series, www.Quick32.ca will race six times in 2012. The series also competes with its two companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca and the Pro Bike & Sled Series, www.PBSS.ca offering a solid and full package of drag racing action.
