Can/Am partnership Fletch Racing sets to Unveil Cobra Jet Mustang….

18 Race NHRA Schedule Targeted to Compete for Championship

It’s been nearly a year in the making, but the time has come for the long anticipated debut of Fletch Racing’s flagship race car, a brand new, 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet, which will make its first laps in NHRA competition during the upcoming American Rebel Light Nationals, in Charlotte, North Carolina, April 25-27.

This event will mark the beginning of what the team hopes is a season full of win lights and strong points finishes, as they follow an 18 race NHRA schedule. The main goal is to contend for ‘Wally’ trophies over the course of the season, while attending enough events to earn maximum points toward respectable National and Divisional Championship finishes.

The car, built by Watson Engineering in Detroit, Michigan, and meticulously assembled, including engine assembly, by True Street Motorsports in McKinney, Texas, is set to compete in the very competitive Factory Super Stock B class.

Producing more than 1400 horsepower from its 317 cubic inch Coyote powerplant, topped with a 3.0 litre Whipple supercharger, the entire vehicle is wired into the newest Holley EFI system, allowing the team the ultimate control over data collection and tuning decisions.

The anticipated performance targets for the car are aimed at being amongst the most competitive in the class. “The car tested really well at World Wide Technology Raceway and US 41 Motorplex last weekend, with runs in the low 8 second range at nearly 170 miles per hour, so we’re incredibly optimistic about tapping into its full potential as we massage the chassis and tune up some more throughout the season”, said Driver, Jory Elliott, from London Ontario.

Elliott, a second- generation drag-racer, will get back behind the controls of this stunning high-performance machine next week, this time for car and driver’s first outing together in NHRA competition. He slips into this seat fresh off of winning the FSS/A class championship at Gainesville Raceway in February.

Elliott drove Fletch Racing’s 2012 Cobra Jet Mustang to that victory, after having campaigned that car during the second half of the 2024 race season. The team compiled a 20-11 round record in 2024, including several late round finishes, a runner-up finish, and an event win.

“I’m truly blessed to have had the opportunity to drive for Fletch Racing the past nine months and if this new car continues to run as good on the track as it looks off of it, we’re going to have a ton more fun and success in 2025”, said Elliott.

The Fletch Racing Team, owned by Bill & Rachelle Fletcher of Texas, also includes Hall of Fame Driver and Team Owner “Bogus” Bob Elliott, as its Super Stock Crew Chief. Bob is best known for his exploits at the controls of his Northern Force Funny Car’s in the 80’s & 90’s, including qualification in Fuel Funny Car at the Spring Nationals and U.S. Nationals during a three race campaign in 1993.

About Fletch Racing – Founded in 2024, and fielding several cars in various national and regional drag racing series across North America, Fletch Racing has already established itself as a race winning motorsports team.

The team produced wins in three different series in 2024; a testament to its dedication to creating high performance environments aimed at excelling at the highest levels of drag racing, while simultaneously developing drivers and crew to ascend toward the next level of competition.

The team’s current competitive entries include two NHRA Super Stock cars, two Modified class entries, and a Junior Dragster team.
