Cowie Makes Comeback Run!
It’s been a wicked 2 years following his non-racing related accident — but Canadian drag racing is thrilled that Delta BC’s Shawn Cowie is back in the saddle of his Top Alcohol Dragster!…..
Alcohol Dragster racer Shawn Cowie, critically injured in April 2011 when a vehicle hit him while he was riding his Harley Davidson, causing injuries that required dozens of surgeries and more two years of rehabilitation, made his first run since the accident last Thursday during a test and tune session for the NHRA Northwest division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Woodburn Dragstrip.
According to Northwest Division Director Frank Nelson Jr., with his family, friends, and his extended racing family watching intently, after much nervous anxiety Cowie did a perfect burnout then made a flawless pass at 5.45 at 265 mph in his Mundies Towing entry.
The prolific Canadian racer is a former NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series division champion (2009) who has finished in the top 10 nationally three times (2008-2010) and is a multi-event winner on the NHRA national circuit.
