Highlighted solid Canadian participation from within Drag Illustrated’s phenomenal WSOPM event….

John Carinci (Woodbridge ON) was the quickest qualified car within the WSOPM event Pro 10.5 class feature. John collected that honour with his 2004 Corvette at 3.903 secs 205.69 mph – but lost out in round #2 of eliminations.

Spencer Hyde – who won this lucrative event a couple years ago — was the only Canadian car capable of cracking into the super quick 32-car field. Spencer qualified the “Jack & The Green Stock” Camaro (from Stratford ON) at 3.628 secs — but lost a close first round decision to Ken Quartuccio (3.583 secs to 3.609 secs). Quartuccio was the overall 3 race points champion for the DI Winter Series.

“La Belle Province” was well represented at the Bradenton Motorsports Park event with both Carl Brunet and Pierre Chicoine attending. Carl raced his unreal 4-cylinder Pontiac GXP in Top Sportsman while Chicoine entered his nasty looking C7 for Pro Mod (carding a 3.847 secs best).

Super Canadian craftsman and all around good guy racer Wes Goddard entertained the fans with his one-of-a-kind Nash creation “Hell Billy”! Wes (from Ariss ON) qualified #18 for Top Sportsman with a best time of 4.316 secs.

Manitoba’s Kenny Lang entered his Al Billes Racing Camaro and ran a best of 3.681 secs – which amazingly – was only #58 within the massive and highly competitive class entry grid.

Louis Ouimette – from Timmons ON – had a best time of 3.736 secs with his ever improving C7 – but that also fell well short of the tough 32-car bump.

Fans at Bradenton got a first look at this stunning all new Chevy Camaro owned by Jay Santos (Halton Hills ON). Jay’s best time in the absolute car show quality Bickel Race Cars build was a 3.710 secs.

Two more Ontario racers entered in the Pro 10.5 class included Tony Presto’s Chevy Nova (from Oakville) and Mauro Caringi’s Camaro. Mauro (Grimsby) was the quickest of these two — running an event best 4.333 secs.

Canada’s premier Outlaw 10.5 racer – Nick Agostino – did have a rough outing/incident racing his normally superbly quick turbocharged Chevy Camaro. However, Nick (from GTA), did manage to rebound and take “Battlestar Cannoli” to best run of 4.430 secs to qualify #18.
