New York State Visit – Up Next!

The Canadian-based Quick 32 and PBSS drag racing series will make a touchdown in Western New York State this coming weekend….

Participants within both series are heading to Empire Dragway at Leicester NY (June 13-14th) for their next round of competition.

This third event of 2014 for both series will also be their inaugural visit to the Western New York IHRA-sanctioned facility. Both series will compete eighth-mile on the Empire Dragway track.

In 2008, the Pro Modified Racing Association, companion series to the others, raced at Empire when it was known as New York International Raceway Park.

After two rounds this season, Top Dragster driver Tony Positano leads the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, which is now in its sixth year and presented by NAPA Auto Parts. Positano, of Toronto, Ontario, won the recent event in Martin, Michigan. Second in points is another Top Dragster driver, Glen Vardy of Burlington, Ontario, who won the season opener at Grand Bend.

Following Vardy is the Top Sportsman team of Wilson & Gray from Ingersoll, Ontario, last year’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series champions. Another champion, Kevin Wicke of

Stratford, Ontario, is fourth in points with his Top Sportsman entry with Bob Robinson, also of Stratford, fifth with his Top Sportsman entry.

Presented by Wiseco Performance Products, the PBSS is in its fourth year of operation and will also take to the Empire track for its first time. Reigning champion Dan Cryderman leads the series at present with his Pro Bike entry. He also won the first round this season at Grand Bend.

Next in points is the recent Martin Michigan winner, Pro Bike rider Mark Catanzaro of Port Huron, Michigan, followed by former PBSS champ Ted Glinny of Milton, Ontario. Curtis Beck, also of Milton, is next, followed by John Orfanidis of Toronto. All compete in Pro Bike.

After some test and tune time on Friday, June 13, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and PBSS teams will hold three qualifiers with eliminations scheduled for Saturday June 14. Along with regular series teams, officials are expecting New York-based teams to compete over the weekend.
