Added emphasis for Canadian drag racing history passionates this season…
Drag racing fans in Southern Ontario will have multiple opportunities this year to take in some Nostalgia Drag racing features.
The two primary entities “Nostalgia AA/GS Club” and “True North Gassers” group will be presenting at six events spread out at three race tracks — after revealing their 2026 schedule.
“Nostalgia AA/GS Club” has been in existence for about 15 years, while the “True North Gassers” group is now entering its 5th year.
“We’ve (Nostalgia AA/GS Club) have come together and split up a few times but right now we’re riding a cool little wave of popularity,” said John Reid, who helps steer that series. “All our cars are blower cars and we run 1/8 mile only — as we are not allowed any stretch or aero mods. We run in a high 4-low 5 secs time zone. All are shows are booked and we run eliminator style. The events can vary in field size — depending on what the track promotor wants to do.”
The “True North” camp, who are a little newer to the scene are a little more open to types of Nostalgia cars in competition. Their membership is more about looks and car year. According to John, they too run eliminator races on both days of every weekend event the groups attend together.
Both Canadian groups also do run as guests featured within various nostalgia events within the USA.
In addition to being the series organiser, John Reid is also a long time racer himself and car owner. His meticulous JAR Racing Willys is always a top event attraction for fans.
“Our car (photo below) does hold the AA/GS record in Canada at 4.77 secs and 148 mph,” John winked. “My son Aaron drives.”
