Canada Heads Up series drag racing continues at Toronto Motorsports Park….
Canada heads Up – Shootout Series, presented by Speedwire Systems, Nash Competition Engines, Head Rush Apparel and Tattoo & Miska Trailers, was back on the track this past weekend at Toronto Motorsports Park (July 18-19) for season round #3.
Saturday qualifying was cut short, after one round because of weather. The Sportsman classes got two rounds of qualifying in as well most classes saw two rounds of eliminations before the skies opened.
CHU Pro10.5 racers were back for their 3rd race of the their $60,000 series.
Michigan’s Bill Riddle, again, led the field going into Sunday’s eliminator, but would bow out to fellow American racer Jake Blain.
Tony Piselli (driving his former Nick Agostino-owned) Camaro, held onto a wild ride in the finals against Blain, crossing the line .002″ in front!
Super Street saw the return onf the Catalana Brothers back to competition for the first time in 2026 and they shot right to the top of the qualifying chart with their efforts! Super Street was highlighted with the awesome first time win in the class by Mauro Briccardi, who used the extra late round points to move himself into the #2 spot on the points charts!

The newly added X275 class grew to 5 entries this week as a few others, waiting for parts, still sat on the sidelines looking in! Tyler Kranendonk won the class, from the number 1 qualified position, in a close .003″ finish over Joseph Vandenhurk.
The father and son team of Hugo and Tyler Kranendonk prevailed for X275 racing.
EZ Street was again dominated by Matt Glassford’s well known Nitrous powered Nova as he qualified #1 right off the trailer and ran to the stripe over Steve Demianidis.
Sean Devine seems unstoppable this season in the Street 275 class. While Phil Sampson claimed number 1 qualifying status, it was Sean Devine’s turbo power over Joe Muro’s nitrous combo in the final.
Pro Bike continues to grow in popularity and entry numbers and this event it was Jesse Vanbetlehem taking the top spot on the qualifying sheet. Gerry Hunt and his big tire bike took out Ryan Fogan’s new Pro Bike combo in the finals.
Gerry Hunt won within the CHU ever expanding Pro Bike class category.
Stock wheel base was more of the same, Mickey Dinnoo took the stripe over Shannon Poulter from the number #1 qualified position.
Other weekend winners include: Mike Valvasori, Dilan Peters (photo below), John Stornelli, Will Fogan Jr, Mike Pereira, Mya James (photo below), Chris Scarlatta, Glenn Tovey, Tony Valerio, and claiming her first win – Mia Kempers in Jr Dragster.
For CHU Junior Dragster racing it was Mia Kempers capturing her first ever win!
The next event for CHU is slated for August 15-16 – right back at TMP.
