A major off season ownership development is now confirmed at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway…
The Castrol Raceway ownership Team has announced that Rob Reeves and Ron Hodgson have decided, by mutual agreement, to end the 15 year partnership of Alberta’s Premier Motorsports Complex operating as Castrol Raceway. Mr. Hodgson, a Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame member and long time advocate of Canadian Motorsports will be leaving the company effective immediately, with Reeves upholding the role as sole owner of the venue and operations.
Hodgson, an avid motorsport enthusiast has served in his current role of partner since March 2004; throughout the years playing a pivotal role in the media, marketing, and sponsor acquisitions for the business. In addition to the current partnership with Reeves, Mr. Hodgson contributed significantly to our history and culture as operator of Edmonton International Speedway from 1974 to 1979, modified many dragsters that won 6 NHRA Funny Car National Events, 2 AHRA Top Fuel World Championships and various other events. Today, Hodgson works with his son Ryan, crusading a Funny Car on the NHRA Heritage Series.
“Ron and I share a love and respect for the DNA of motorport competition and entertainment” said Reeves, “and we both recognize the need to evolve. I am grateful for what Ron has contributed during his time with us”. We have built a strong foundation for future growth, including strengthening our team, refocusing our brand, evolving our events and improving our operations. We have significantly benefited from the partnership and we are parting on good terms. “I would like to Thank Ron for his 15 year partnership, established with positive intent benefiting both parties.”
The separation is not expected to have an effect on the Venue’s future outlook. Reeves plans to continue spearheading the operations; moving our venture forward as we have for the past 22 years along with developing events that share in the enthusiasm and community of our brand: Motorports with Passion.
