A salute to a simply superb season run from Ontario-based “young gunner”….

Smith Falls Ontario’s Brandon Barker entered the spring 2025 as the reigning Super Tour National Champion in the Super Pro Dragster category.

Then a few months later he made history by becoming the first racer ever to win a third Super Tour National Championships. But Barker’s season tear — did not end there.

His racing details from his home track Luskville Dragway – most truly did shine through. After first taking a title at that track’s $$$ lucrative Bracket Bonanza held in August — (winning Saturday and R/UP on Sunday), just a couple months later he then returned where he then swept the Fall Bracket Championships, winning both days.

For 2025 Barker accumulated a total of 9,900 points to claim the Super Series title by a margin of seven rounds over his closest rival. He now stands as the winningest racer in Super Tour history, with 9 wins, 3 National Titles, and ten consecutive Top 10 finishes over the past decade.

But Barker’s season still did include – even more. His efforts also garnered a Luskville Dragway track championship and he was the season’s top points earner for the Super Comp division of John Scotti’s Canadian National Open Series (Eastern).

And uniquely Brandon’s season success did come in what was a borrowed race car — from his wife Rachel. (A 2008-Mullis Dragster with 582 BBC rated at 1100 HP).

Brandon Barker raced “Rachel’s Car” to three major championship titles for 2025.

“After having our first child (Alexandra – Sept/23), Rachel and I took time off and also changed the way we raced,” he reflected. We could not be as carefree, we needed to be intentional with our racing. Rachel and I came back together in ’24 racing together with the whole family (bringing Alex along) and we did come out of that season with the Super Tour Dragster Championship. When we came into 2025, Rachel was pregnant so we knew she would not be driving. At that time too we had been looking at running some NHRA Super Comp events. So since her car was already set up with a throttle stop and was originally run in Super Comp when it was brand new, it made sense. I took my engine out of my dragster and put it in her car for the year. With that we were able to run both Super Pro and NHRA Super Comp – more effectively.”

“Winning my third Super Tour Championship (2018, 2024, 2025) in the 10th year of the series is pretty huge for me,” he added. “It really is the toughest series in this half of the country for sure! If you want to win a race let alone the whole championship you need to bring your best. I think I have evolved immensely as a driver too since my first championship. And out of necessity, we have added different tools and strategies to compensate for how much better the competition gets year after year.”

Brandon Barker made he way to victory lane more often then not in 2025 including at Napierville and Luskville Dragway.

“For me winning the Luskville Dragway Track Championship was a first time. It is arguably a tougher task to win a track championship like this – because there is all the extra commitment to be there for every weekend and put on your best performance. After a 19-event series – I managed to edge out the championship over a great friend, Dave Rennie, by just one round! Adding my name to a Luskville Dragway  championship trophy — means everything to me.”

“And last but not least — having my first dip into NHRA Super Comp racing pay dividends too was pretty phenomenal. The John Scotti NHRA National Open Series was my first time running any index racing. I was really looking for a different challenge or perspective in the driver’s seat – and that was provided for sure.”

Brandon revealed that NHRA S/G racer affectionado Charlie Kenopic (Renfrew ON) has been both an influence and a source of information for him within that class evolvement.

“Charlie had been on me to try “.90″ racing and how much fun it is — well he was definitely correct in that,” Brandon laughed. “I’m also a math guy through and through so all the calculations, factors, and strategy I really got hooked on this type of racing. But I did not have huge expectations (for the first year) — so for it all to come together and land a “third” championship in 2025 — is pretty amazing.”

While success on-track for Brandon Barker in 2025 was most affirmative – life’s amazing ride did include another major moment for he and wife Rachel who welcomed their second daughter into the world just last month: Avery — on October 12th.

“I have to thank my wife, Rachel, for all of her support all year long,” he emphasised. “For her it was definitely not easy going all year to the track and watching me drive her car. But she cheered me on every step of the way.”

For Canadian drag racing the name — Brandon Barker — is most definitively a name/topic for the future – with many other opportunities to come knocking for sure.

Brandon and Andrew Stirk also regularly co-host a popular BracketLife Broadcast where they stir up all things Canadian drag racing. That is part and parcel to their BracketLife Brand-company formed just a few years ago. You can link to that : HERE
