NHRA Joliet Canadian Photo Extra
Doug Doucette’s Winnipeg-based TAD was on a tear at Joliet. His driver Alan Bradshaw qualified on the pole with an unreal 5.227 secs and took the potent nitro burner to the semi final round!
Although he did not qualify in his first time out with a new car and new sponsorship from CN — Edmonton’s Todd Lesenko served notice about the future.
Ontario’s Samantha Kenny starred in S/G racing. She qualified #1 with a perfect 9.900 secs and barely lost out in the semi final round.
Quebec’s Daniel Mercier qualified for the prestigious Jegs All Stars event – one of three Canadian cars in that elite 8-car field.
Spiro Kontos all new Chevy Monte Carlo was the deserving recipient of the event’s “Best Engineering” award. His driver Cassie Simonton qualified #3 with a a superb 5.593 secs.
Alberta-based car owner Ken Reich and his skilled driver Adam Bowdish represented NHRA Division Six in the Jegs All Stars Competition eliminator showdown.
Clif Bakx and his driver Gord Gingles from Manitoba showed well at Joliet. They raced in the Jegs All Stars and then made it to round #2 in Sunday’s TAD eliminations.
Mark Martino showed at Joliet with Cagnazzi power in his Pro Stock and qualified in the middle of the pack before losing out to Jason Line in round #1.
Canadian fan fav Jeff Arend qualified within the very swift fuel FC show at Chicago with a strong 4.134 secs.
Markham’s Ken Perry was once again in the TAD mix — qualifying the “Iceman” car #5 with a 5.365 secs.
Hugh Ridley’s BC-based TAD made it’s first appearance at Route 66 Raceway. Driver Ray Martin qualified the car 10th before losing out to Gingles in round #1.
