“Red Hot” Corvette
Nova Scotia’s John Armstrong has been on a real tear the past couple of weeks with his absolutely awesome 427 CID 1969 Corvette Super Stocker. On May 26th the Maritimes legend drag racer drove to victory over a ultra fast and competitive field during the LODRS event held at Maple Grove Raceway in PA. Armstrong won 7 rounds of competition at that event — capping off his win with a lap of 8.641 secs at 153.91 mph in the final round. The next weekend during the NHRA Toyota Summernationals held at Englishtown, Armstrong came close to duplicating that with a 5th round finish in national event competition. John went .002 red in round five after qualifying #1 overall for the Super Stock field with a rather ungodly 8.755 secs (in extreme heat) which was .945 under his SSA/A index.
