Rookie Winner @ NHRA Pro Mod Round #3

NHRA Pro Mod class newcomer Clint Satterfield raced to his first career NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series last Sunday during the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals presented by Super Start Batteries at Houston’s Royal Purple Raceway….

Satterfield, from New Mexico and driving his BAC Enterprises nitrous assisted ’68 Camaro faced off against Canada’s Kenny Lang and the Summit Racing ’63 Corvette in the final round.   That match marked the first time those two had faced in eliminations.

Lang, driving a supercharged car that is owned by Al Billes (Barrie, ON)  fouled at the start, giving the win to Satterfield, who posted a 6.015 second pass at 246.75 mph.

In earlier rounds, Satterfield defeated Mike Knowles, Rickie Smith and Mike Castellana.

With his runner-up finish, Lang moves to the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series points lead from third and Satterfield catapults from 10th to third on the strength of his win.

A total of 14 cars were entered for the Pro Mod class at Houston and the field was set based on two qualifying rounds after rain storms washed out the schedule on Saturday
