Mid-August will include an important celebration for Western Canadian drag racing fans at Saskatchewan International Raceway….
The 50th Anniversary celebration committee is lead by Chairperson Murray McDonald, along with Track Manager Shawn Zezula, S.D.R.A. club President Tom Firth, Vice President Trevor Jacek, Track Maintenance Supervisor Doug Morin, club Executive members Dave Caister, Joan and Richards Skopyk.
“The goal for the organizing committee was simple — make this the biggest, best, most spectacular and fun event in the tracks history,” said Murray McDonald. “We’ve been planning this event over the last two years.”

In order to host this many cars and people the pits have been expanded, the spectator parking area expanded, trackside parking increased, new sections of grandstand installed and perhaps the most exciting news is the concrete start line has been ground, the groove in both lanes to the finish line has been repaved, the entire top end from gaurdarail to gaurdrail has been repaved and the even return road now has fresh pavement.
For this event only, special one of a kind Class Winner Trophies will be handed out.
“Any and all former racers, track staff, spectators, photographers, friends and family are invited,” Murray added.
Racers from across Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, the Northern United States are expected to be in attendance.
