Something Borrowed & Something New….

The kids are alright! (and that’s me saying that not just Father & Mother Eddy and Cynthia Plaizier)….

2nd generation Western Canadian racers Casey Plaizier and Frankie Giroux-Plaizier continue to evolve into versatile and extremely competent Sportsman drag racers.  They are at 23 and 25 years old respectively the youngest members of the multi-car Plaizier Sportsman racing team which now consists of 5 different cars, each of which are campaigned extensively.  That list includes a ’48 Anglia S/G, a ’63 Corvette S/G, a Pontiac Firebird Stocker, a Mullis-built dragster and a ’56 Chevy S/ST.

For 2013 news from the Edmonton Alberta-based team news includes the return after a 4-year absence of a familiar ’56 Chevy which is one of the cars that Casey drives.  That car was originally raced by the Plaizier family before being sold to Wayne & Tanis Battle.

That meticulously maintained car which runs mostly in the 10.90 bracket and which continues to be owned by the Battle family, has received a number of upgrades and improvements since then.  This year they have asked Casey, who had great success while first cutting his drag racing teeth in it before, to drive it again.

For Frankie, who married another very skilled drag racer Garth Giroux a couple of years ago — she recently introduced a new look and sponsorship to her Top Dragster – Stealth Performance.   Her machine which features a 632 CID engine program, now has a very cool and intimating military look going forward.

For Eddy and Cynthia the ongoing internal team developments are really two fold.  Not only are they helping to advance the team’s overall impact — they also help to maintain a very close family bond which they strive for.

“I’m proud to say that Frankie and Casey are not only sister and brother but they remain the best of friends,” said Eddy.  “We work hard to keep our drag racing interests fun and together and that has been a successful unity.”

While the rest of 2013 will see the team stick mostly to major events on the West coast and Pacific NW, there will be more rather significant news emerging from the Plaizier Sportsman racing team towards season’s end.  While we are sworn to secrecy on the exact details we can reveal there are in the works some very aggressive plans for all the team to race on a more national presence in the not to distant future.

DragRaceCanada will post more details on all that at a later time.
