“Team Green” Pro Mod Mission Statement

Eric Latino and race car co-owner Rob Sporring plan to continue some very high standards for Pro Mod class racing in 2012.  They have also revealed plans for their most aggressive season yet…..

The Ontario-duo, who first melded their class efforts together in time for last season’s campaign, are presently one of the most potential ridden Pro Mod class operations ever to be based from Canada.   Last year, their focus was almost exclusively within the thriving Eastern Canadian-based PMRA circuit where they finished 3rd in final Championship points.   The 2012 season will include that — but also a lot more.

“We had a pretty good 2011 — but for this year our car is definitely more aggressive,” revealed Eric Latino who is the President and CEO of highly innovative Global Emissions Systems, based from Whitby Ontario.  “Over the off season we made a number of mechanical changes.  Our crew chief Paolo (D’Alimonte) has learned a lot from racing with the likes of Al Billes, Raymond Commisso and Tony Pontieri – and our focus is not about just getting down the track – it’s about getting down the track faster all the time.”

Last year, Eric ran a career best 5.871 secs which clearly does show the team’s ability to play in the top level Pro Mod sandbox seriously.   But they will need that performance and probably more for the direction they would like to head.

“We will run the entire PMRA deal again for sure,” Eric continued.  “But we also want to dabble in both the NHRA and ADRL event circuits – definitely.  We are running our car 100% legal Pro Mod (2650 lbs) so we can properly finesse our tune up.  In PMRA, their rules allow for more latitude – lighter car for example.  While that may provide a slight disadvantage there, we are not into switching the car back and forth.  So it will always be in legal NHRA/ADRL Pro Mod class trim.”

The team will see action next this weekend during Cayuga’s Canadian Nitro Nationals – one of the most anticipated events of the season for Canada.  Then after that, current expectations are for the team to venture into the U.S.for the NHRA Pro Care RX program at Norwalk (July 5-8th) and also the ADRL race at Martin MI (Summer Drags VIII) the following weekend.

Eric Latino and Rob Sporring plan to escalate their Pro Mod racing presence this summer

For drag racing fans on both sides of the border – those team ventures for sure would be something to watch out for…(BB)
